Subject: My letter of 15 November

I had planned to wait for your reply to my previous letter but as I stated my health is declining and my life expectancy is short. This package includes all of the information I sent to the state medical board and attorney general as well as a brief summary of the situation. Any competent analysis would conclude that some very bad things went on there and people died as a result (see Attachment A). I realize that these are serious allegations and you may be inclined to not take them seriously so here is a part of my letter to the attorney general:

Please allow me to introduce myself. While I am not especially wealthy I consider my tastes to be better than average. If you didn't get the joke please ignore it.

I am a retired Information Technology Systems Architect aged sixty-nine years. During my career I enjoyed an enviable reputation among my peers. In the final eighteen years my career I built the IT infrastructure that took a mom-and-pop (literally) company to one of the largest in that market with over thirty million in annual revenue. I was an honor student in high school and when I was younger I served briefly in the U.S. Air Force and attained the maximum rank possible in four years and received sterling performance reviews and the usual medals and other awards. I had a TS/SCI (google if necessary) security clearance and was often selected for special duties because of my security clearance and performance record. I don't put much stock in IQ tests - the Unabomber reportedly had an IQ of 167 - but for what it's worth mine is higher than that. I have never committed a crime or even been accused (or as far as I know suspected) of one and have never been diagnosed as mentally ill. The longest period of unemployment in my life was about two weeks. That should be enough to at least suggest that maybe, just maybe, I am not a crackpot or conspiracy theorist or other such person of dubious credibility.

My purpose in relating that information is to ask you, should you reply to this letter to consider your response carefully. Please do not patronize me or insult my intelligence. In forty years of systems analysis and design in work requiring absolutely accurate results my performance has never been found to be anything less than superlative. Ignore me if you like but do not take me for a fool. Four years ago when my family removed me from that place I was literally near death and remain permanently crippled and with a reduced life expectancy but many less fortunate patients are completely dead. In seven years more than a hundred and forty patients died in a facility that should have had an annual death rate of nearly zero and even one death would have warranted investigation. In the course of my own investigations I made the acquaintance of the mother (herself a health care worker) of a young man who perished there under the same circumstances - incompetent and abusive treatment by staff, misuse of medications, lack of attention by the doctor and a fatal failure of diagnosis. I am aware of at least one lawsuit against the hospital alleging wrongful death due to medical malpractice. Guess what? The description of the treatment of the deceased patient was similar to my own experience. Forgive me if the analytical part of me causes me to suspect that a Dr. Death was roaming the corridors of that place.

As the hospital is now closed obtaining records may be difficult but the company in Texas that managed the hospital may have them. I have the identities of employees for the past four years and most are still employed at various health care facilities in the area. Pharmaceutical records could be obtained from suppliers - the use of psychotropic medications (for which there was no need in such a facility) was the main cause of my injuries and no doctor at ACCH was qualified to diagnose a need for them. I survived because my family removed me before I deteriorated to the point of death and it seems that many others were not so fortunate.

I have the names and ages of 155 patients (most likely not a complete list) who died there (in a facility where the statistical death rate should have been close to zero per year) during the seven years of operation.

I do not know to whom the medical board is accountable but its action (inaction actually) in this case was reprehensible.

The recommendation in Attachment A is that the Attorney General or a federal authority should investigate. His office does not have Attachment A as it was not prepared when I mailed the first letter - whether that would change anything I don't know. Perhaps someone in the governor's office will be able to communicate the need for his attention.

Since doing this by mail is rather slow and time is critical if you wish to communicate by email you can use this address: sklawrence@myndcryme.com

Attachment A describes the situation regarding patient deaths at Arkansas Continued Care Hospital (ACCH).

Attachment B describes the treatment that caused my near death and permanent disability and probable eventual premature death.

Attachment C is the information sent to the state medical board

Please advise if you require more information. I have been working for four years to draw attention to this matter and the more time that passes the more the prospects of justice for the victims decline. More importantly the doctor who is responsible has not been held accountable and will continue to cause harm to unsuspecting patients.
